Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity
International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian
housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty
housing and homelessness from the world, and to make
decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and
religions to build houses together in partnership
with families in need.
March of Dimes
Our mission is to
improve the health of babies by preventing birth
defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We
carry out this mission through research, community
services, education and advocacy to save babies
lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers,
educators, outreach workers and advocates work
together to give all babies a fighting chance
against the threats to their health: pre-maturity,
birth defects, and low birth weight.
Stand Up For Kids
The mission of
Stand Up For
Kids
is to help homeless and street kids.
Volunteers mobilize themselves and take to the
streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise
help homeless and street kids improve their lives.
The mission focus goes beyond street outreach and
extends to deterrence and resource programs that we
provide in schools and via the internet. But all
facets of our mission are guided by the mandate that
our volunteers shall tell kids they care about them
and then, at every point, prove it.
During
the Tau Kappa Phi, Inc 2nd Biennial Conclave
Conference held in Houston, TX July 23-27, 2008,
Alpha Psi Kappa Fraternity, Inc donated funds to the
Houston Chapter of Stand Up For Kids. In addition to
a monetary donation, the members collected and
donated over 600 toothbrushes, 50 tubes of
toothpaste, 70 bars of soap, 100 travel size
containers of shampoo, and 200 razors to assist with
the Chapter's outreach mission.
